Ranters Theatre is a group of Melbourne based artists that have been making work together since 1994. The work has been presented in theatres, inside homes, in gardens and on the streets. Each project is made as a response to the social and psychological contexts of contemporary living and acts as a kind of reframing of the everyday experience. Our work plays with the habitual languages of performance and is centred around the singular question of ‘how we perform ourselves.’ Above all else we are interested in people. Our work encourages an open and questioning relationship with audiences. We collaborate with artists both nationally and internationally.

Ranters has partnered with organisations in Australia including Melbourne Festival, Adelaide Festival, Arts Centre Melbourne, Malthouse Theatre, Arts House, Griffin Theatre, Theatre Works, Street Theatre and Belvoir Street Theatre. Our work has been presented in over a dozen countries including France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, the Netherlands, Denmark, England, Wales, South Korea, USA and Canada. The company has undertaken national and international residencies at Bundanon Trust in NSW, The National Theatre Studio, London, Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, Zuppa Theatre, Halifax and at Maldinsko Theatre, Ljubljana.
